Logan Town, Monrovia – Residents of District #15 in Montserrado County trooped in their numbers at the disputed polling stations to cast their ballots in the district by-election rerun. Taking a tour in the district, FrontPageAfrica noticed that most of the voters, who had turned out to cast their ballot at the six precincts were women. The six precincts comprise of 20 polling places, which had been quarantined by the National Elections Commission (NEC).
Also, young people between the ages of 18 to 30 were more of the voters. Some of the voters who probably didn’t see the need to stand waiting for a while in the long queue left and promised to come back before the 6 P.M. deadline when polling ends.
There was a noticeable huge police presence on the main streets in the most famous community — Logan Town. They were on hand to probably put under control any violent situation. The officers prevented people from standing in group outside the polling places.
Police officers were also forbidding people from passing in front of any of the polling stations. Voting ended peaceably at those 20 polling places, including those ones in Logan Town.
Logan Town was the scene of two pre and post-electoral violent occurrences.
In the last one on Saturday, August 17, Ms. Telia Urey, the main contender to the ruling party’s candidate, Mr. Abu B. Kamara, vehicle was damaged.
